She wouldn't remember much about that first year.
It simply passed away like some unreal dream.

In some way, she was lucky that Kusari Empire needed so badly more and more warriors for that seemingly unending war.
She wasn't deluding herself, however.
They were expandable pawns the Naval Forces would use in Bretonia. Many would die.

But all in all, it was still better than coming back home.

They spent an entire year in that academy on Kyushu. One would say that apprenticeship was quite botched.
It just confirmed her opinion about the current status of this war.

Fitting onto that new lifestyle wasn't easy for her, at first.
It had nothing common with the luxurious existence she was having before.

Avoiding to leave the quarters or to simply make friends with the others, she grew accustomed to loneliness.
She secretly sighed of relief when the rookie wing she was part of finally received its assignment in Seto system.

"Stay in formation, Chui Okabe." emitted the leading Chimaera.
Junko pouted behind her mask, annoyed to be called to order.
She used that sweet voice noticeably confusing him to say :
"Please accept my excuse, honourable Chusa, but i think i detected something inside the field."
"You think..." started Hanawa, repressing a sigh over the comms array.
"Bingo!" she then screamed, reminding a bit late she was still emitting "Hm... Five hostiles detected, honourable Chusa."
"Stop that..." mumbled almost indistinctly Hanawa. He then said aloud "Hai.. I have them now on my scan. Well done... Warriors, it is time to..."
Proudly smiling behind her helmet, she didn't wait for the order and charged the patrol, neglecting to wait for the others...

He waited them on the docks once they finally reached Stokes.
"Well fought. I'm waiting you in .30 for the debriefing."
As they were leaving, Hanawa addressed her.
"Chui Okabe. A word."
She turned around, gazing at him questioningly, and finally stood in front of him, standing to attention.
"Hm... At ease." He finally said, quitting looking at those troubling eyes.
"A problem, honourable Chusa?" asked Junko half-seriously.
"Hm.." mumbled again Hanawa.
He finally sighed and pondered "Sometimes, i wonder what comes into your head, Chui."
"What do you mean, honourable Chusa?"
"Stop that. I don't know. Charging five ships alone and screaming over the comms : 'Playtoys are mine'..?"
"Oh this? Well? Didn't i burn two of them before you arrived?"
"That isn't the matter."
"And they are playtoys since i enjoy so much playing with them." she said, ignoring his intervention.

He allowed himself a quick sigh.
"Fujiko... Do you wish to die?"
"No?"
"Because it will happen if you keep doing this. Trust me."
"But i killed two of them!" she retorted, doing akimbo while staring at him in a pretendly annoyed way.

He sighed again.
"You are indeed skilled, Chui. To be perfectly honest, i requested your transfer to the Primary fleet a few days ago but..."
"Really?!" she asked, interrupting him.
"But..." he continued, frowning softly "Your attitude will have to change. Your behaviour isn't acceptable as is. I do hope you understand that i could put you under arrest for not following orders."

She gazed at him thoughtfully for a short while, and said in a respectful tone :
"Honourable Chusa, are you annoyed because i didn't follow your orders, or because i, a female, showed i was better than you at fighting."
Noticing his expressionless face, she added "And smarter too?"

He sighed for the third time and just said "You may leave."
Hanawa saw her smiling to him and followed her with his eyes as she was leaving the docks...
