As a previously unknown anomaly in Munich was discovered and the first reports from the scouts deployed to the new system - Omicron Xi - came back (those few that did), the Oberkommando der Rheinwehr quickly realized that sudden danger that the Vaterland faces required immediate intervention.
Since the Rheinwehr was short on men and material alike, the Oberkommando decided the best course of action would be to redeploy the Omicronkorps - a handful of veterans recently assembled to perform peacekeeping action in Delta - to conduct force recon in Xi and if the need arises, suppress any hostilities coming from the region.
As the first dozen Rheinwehr vessels jumped into the system, the two Corsair bases in the jump hole's vicinity - Syros and Thira - were immediately alerted and the battle-hardened locals immediately flew to intercept the intruders.
