It doesn't always happen, and they might have been killing a Xeno fighter or something. It's getting a little better as they are shown how powerful fighters are, and will improve more as Liberty enforces new policy.

Corsairs are fixing their stuff too. If you don't believe there are Gamma capwhores, check the threads in flood, one of them has a perfect example.
