Arthur James Cuttingham was born to a wealthy family with no siblings on Planet New London on December 14, 777 A.S. Cuttingham always wanted to fly ever since he was a boy, but his overprotective mother was clingy and did not allow him to do so. During 800 A.S, he turned 23 and vowed he would fly for the Bretonia Armed Forces due to the war with the Nomads, despite his mom denying his request and not alloying him to fly almost a year ago. She then proceeded to lock down the family ship in the hopes that he could not use it. This made him furious. His mother was on Leeds at the time for a business meeting and so he knew she was in immediate danger. He sent her multiple messages telling her to leave. His father had been stationed on the Suffolk for the longest time and had no contact with his son. They had never even met.

Shortly after, She had been on the landing pad ready to leave on the next transport and saw the famed equipment dealer, Richard Winston Tobias, run to his ship with two others. She knew one of the men accompanying Tobias; Ray Clousing, from flight school. She knew something was wrong if that stubborn man was leaving his equipment shop. Minutes later, infested Rheinlanders destroyed his mother's transport that was leaving Leeds. Cuttingham became furious, and his father still would not contact him, even after his wife died. The massive mansion/house they owned on New London foreclosed due to mortgage payments not being payed, and he was left alone with only a couple million credits, not enough to pay even the mortgage. He was left alone in the world, and became depressed for a while, and he resorted to drinking.

In about 801 A.S, near the end of the Nomad War, the kid next door, named John Doe, who had recently moved to New London; his family took Cuttingham in and cared for him awaiting his fathers return. He got him to stop drinking and got him out of the depression. They became good friends, despite being 12 years apart. For 7 years the two kids took flight lessons, being very used to simulated battles. Cuttingham moved out in 807 A.S, when he met his to-be wife. He got married in 808 A.S, and had three children. They moved to a small apartment down in Rats Harbor, the poor district of New London. His father finally contacted him in 818 A.S, and said he was sorry he never met his son and he loved him very much. A day later he was reported K.I.A by Gallic forces in the Leeds system. Cuttingham had three kids at this point; Charles, John, and Michael. He wanted to get revenge, but his kids were all under 10 years old, and couldn't be left without a father. He did not want to become his father and abandon his kids.

In 823 A.S, Cuttingham was forced by mental and emotional pressure to apply for the BAF to fly for his home nation and to get revenge on Gallia. His kids were all around 14 years old and his wife was willing to take care of them. After living in a crappy apartment for most of his married time, at least 15 years, he finally moved back into his old home, but not by his own. John Doe had contacted him and gave him a massive loan of a billion credits, and didn't ask to be payed back, which baffled him. Doe was eerily generous at times. Later, Doe, was able to afford transport to Planet Pittsburgh in New York, and got a contract with DSE, which supplied him with a huge transport. He agreed to fund Cuttingham's needs once he got into the BAF and would supply him with funds to buy equipment and such.

Later that year, Cuttingham went to the recruitment office to try to apply. At first he was denied, but later answered a question that determined his fate correctly. He was overwhelmed with joy and so were his friends and his wife, but not the kids. He was added to the roster and became an Ensign in the BAF. He belongs to the 8th fleet, and has been in a few battles. In most engagements his ship is badly damaged and he has to get picked up by a repair team and sent to the medical center on New London. He is new, but has potential according to his officers. His greatest achievement was taking out a Gaian fighter and a Molly fighter within the same day, being his first 2 kills. He has currently set up a joint–stock, high quality metalworking business with Doe to be able to support his wife and kids. His service will continue to be flaky for another two years until BMM plans to buy his company out. His ultimate goal in life is to kill the King of Gallia, King Charles XI, for what he did to his family.

Cuttingham is known as a nice, loving and honorable father of three kids. He has been very nationalistic from the get-go and will do what it takes to win any situation. He will not run from things, which can be troublesome, once against a Corsair gunboat which almost got him killed, and will fight till the last breath. He is responsible and respected in the community around his home. He makes sure he follows orders and address every officer and human around as "sir." He has been known to hold grudges, especially about his families' troubled history with the GRN.
