@Tenacity, I must disagree with you. It's easy to stand there and decry that some factions will have better stuff than others, like it or lump it, when it's _your_ faction that has the uber weapons. That mentality might be ligit in SP, where the player is encouraged to go further out and make friends with/battle with tougher factions to get better weps as a reward. But that doesn't cut it in MP, when you want balance and equality between factions.

The outcasts have those weapons, I play two characters at the moment:
1. A junker/trader in a firefly - no access to those weapons even if i wanted them.
2. A generic pirate ID'd / rogue tag'd LR gunboat. Even though I'm partially allied to the outcasts, I still choose not to use inferno guns or razors. the only 'oorp' weapon i've considered getting, other than the corsair turrets (which, again, i'd be sanctioned for using) are solaris gunboat turrets for their faster refire rate - and I'm not sure they're legal for a rogue to use anyways.

I'm not voicing that opinion for myself, it's for the good of RP on the server. I've never used those weapons on this server, and I dont intend to unless I create an outcast / corsair / order character for it.

There's quite a difference between an indenpendent character that participates, and the one that doesn't.

Agreed. Honestly, I cant stand player factions, no matter what faction they represent in the game. They only exist for some players to force their ego on others. Every 'indie' character I play goes along with whatever his faction is generally expected to do. When I played an indie LSF - I patrolled new york and the surrounding systems, I stopped smugglers and pirates, I kept people out of zone 21 - and I was constantly reprimanded by the =LSF= and [SA] because I hadnt joined their faction.

With the exception of outcasts and corsairs, you're right. But, as i've ranted about before in other threads - the houses are very well sheltered. Outcasts and corsairs both live on the fringes of civilization, with constant threats from each other, the nomads, the phantoms, and who knows what else. They are ALWAYS fighting, and thus a large portion of their development is aimed towards improving their ability to survive and kill.

That's why those two factions carry some of the best available weapons. The average liberty cop or navy pilot does not need (or should not need) supernovas, infernos, razors, etc. You dont have unimaginably powerful threats to deal with - you spend your days stopping smugglers and petty criminals.

They have the best weapons and armament - why can't they take over the house completely, what's

Because neither of those listed factions (corsairs/outcasts) gives a damn about liberty, or the other houses. Corsairs and outcasts use their artifact / cardamine trade into the house systems to fund their war against one another. They dont care about taking over your space - they have their own problems to deal with. Also, neither has sufficient numbers of pilots or ships to make a full out assault on the houses, even if their technology happens to be better.

That's why they're independent. They dont want to deal with your heirarchial bullcrap. Nobody wants to log in to a GAME (which is supposed to be a release where people can have FUN) only to be bossed around by some idiot on an ego trip.

Face it, your faction allows you to keep a group of players together that have common goals / personalities / etc. - but outside of that you really dont, or shouldnt, have any power. You have no right whatsoever to boss around other players that are here to have fun.

Tink got everything wrong here right. Honestly, I respect him more than any other player I've seen on this server, not only does he have great RP in game and out, but he works his ass off so other people can have fun instead of bicker all the time.

Unfortunately, I've been one of the people adding to all these arguments, and it's time I stopped. Trying to correct other people's poor attitudes or excuses is more frustration and stress than it's worth.
