Corsairs and LFs

I'm surprised theres no LF 2.0 version of the Legionaire... or is there and I just never seen it?

There is, it's the Decurion, the much maligned Decurion. It's a VHF disguised as an LF.

That being said, I don't really care about corsair LFs.

I'm going to post it here after reading the 4-6 other threads (fully) about this problem. Maybe I'm late to the party, but I still have questions that haven't been really answered in the melee.

It's been said by people that the Corsairs aren't to use LF's at all until theirs are fixed. I find this opinion both juvanile and narrow. Light Fighters are there for a reason as a class. Same as Bombers, VHFs, Transports, ad nausium. Telling the Corsairs not to use Light fighters until theirs is fixed is like telling them to go into battle with one hand behind their back. OK, fine. Then give up something equally as necessary. Infernoes...nope. maybe instead your Nano's. No? how 'bout Cruise Disruptors?

If this all started because someone got miffed about a TigerShark, why now? I am genuinely curious about this, as this has been done for months now. Done for honorable reasons too, not "to have the best" as some others have pointed out. Fair play! A novel concept considering the slander that's been passed around because of this decision. If you are the one who threw off the sanction report, please PM me with the why, and the why now? I really want to know.

As for the shield-buster dilemma, maybe they were in the wrong to be using the Debs. Maybe. But like 95% of the community (+/-5%), I was under the impression Civ. Weapons were available to all. But apparently fire and brimstone hailed forth at the discovery of this...last weekend? Again, something that has been going on (apparently) for a while. What triggered this witch-hunt all of a sudden?

Was it wrong? Maybe. Was it the dreaded ooRP? doubtful, but again, maybe. Was it worth the hulabaloo it's dregged up? Maybe. What! you say? Maybe. Yes, maybe.

This has brought about a lot of discussion on what constitutes fair play vs role play. Like it or not, hard-core RP on a game like this, and a mod like Discovery, is nigh impossible. But with a little compromise, a little understanding, and above all, a little maturity, everyone can have a decent experience. No one likes to lose, but whining to mommy and daddy (read: admin) is tantamount to a spoiled child. So Timmy has a bigger water-balloon than you this time. Get wet, get over it, and next time, bring the garden hose. Don't tell mommy to make timmy get rid of his balloons.

What's acceptable? What's not? Good discussion? Yes. Point - It was generally thought Civ weapons were open to all. Someone pointed out that all debs were sold on bases hostile to Corsairs. Corsairs shouldn't be allowed debs...except for AFA-Corsair arms deal. Samura and AFA are AOK, AFA and Corsairs are fair, vis a vis Corsairs with debbies.

But this apparently is not allowed. This would be forwarding the storyline/timeline of Discovery past where it's meant to be. Disco is not the ever-changing world people think it is. I'm surprised the UOG - QCRF peace treaty hasn't come under similar fire. Maybe it's because there aren't as many people involved. Maybe because there isn't as much at stake (what with Outcast-Corsair enmity and pride), but whatever the case, changing the Disco-verse too far isn't allowed...apparently.

So what IS apparent right now is that this whole thing could have been avoided, but wasnt. So instead of crying over spilt milk, lets clean it up and eat our cookies anyway. Give the Corsairs their damn TigerSharks as the Fist has shown in his poll (so far) an overwhelming majority has accepted it. Add to that it's a well-known fact that when they actually have a Light Figher that fits the name, they'll be ridding themselves of the blasted IMG equipment. Also, a Lvl8 RapierII should be in the works for 4.85. OK. Until then, Use your Tizzie and Sal MkI and tough it out. Compromise. No one likes it in the end, but it's a beautiful thing.

Another sticky wicket is the action taken to light this powder keg. Now don't get undies in bunches here, but has a posted sanction ever been recinded? Or has the infallability of the admin team always been sacro-sanct? I know how it works, that a sanction is NOT the voice of one admin, but discussed privately and we only see the end result.

I ask this because while only a few have argued for it, the vast majority has lobbied on behalf of the corsair crew. While Disco is definately not a democracy, I do believe that the community as a whole, both in RP and not, deserve some say into the workings of the server. Without the community, you've got a nice piece or whirring circuits and empty space. Give us a vote on this one, and perhaps the words will be heard with cooler heads.
