I'd use the Windows vs Linux comparison to compare things like Skype to IRC clients and Discord

I mean yeah, on one hand you have the most user friendly and easy to use system which takes about an hour to learn, get up to speed and use. On the other you have Windows.

This doesn't work, because people are too lazy to actually move their arse and do something on their own. You actually need an organised group to do something.
