Reporting in,
A new faction within the masses has appeared recently, dubbed the 'Cult of Technology'. While their appearances have only been confirmed twice, what they have shown so far is displeasing. The first confirmed sighting involved a hyperspace breach in the middle of the New York system, where a carrier and a large contingent of fightercraft emerged. Two dreadnoughts, one LNS-Cerberus of the Secondary and one LNS-Glendale of the primary, under my command, arrived on scene to find the convoy idling, possibly for powercore recharge. When questioned, the 'mothership' of the battlegroup activated a form of EM shielding not currently known to Willard's database. Within seconds the lead ship had disapeared, and all attempts to disable the EM shielding by the Glendale's cyber-warfare suites proved unfruitful. The remaining fightercraft, composed of highly-equipped fighters and possible bomercraft, immediately opened fire on the two Naval warships, severely draining the shields of the Cerberus. All hostile elements were shot down and delivered to Willard for questioning, but many died through self-poisoning before arriving.
Model: 'Bustard'-class Light Carrier
Armament: Unknown
Shielding Class: None
Powercore: Unknown
Propulsion: Unknown, assumed CE 'Civilian' class
Additional Armor: Unknown
Additional Technology: Advanced EM Shielding Generator, unknown model | Advanced Hyperspace-Jump Drive, unknown model
The vessel in question is a strange one, to say the least. Possessing no shielding at the times of encounter, unknown weapons, no known forms of propulsion (yet to be determined) and technology near-advanced as the Slomon K'Hara Guardians. Their intentions, in vocal form, were to 'close an anomaly' that was seen in system shortly before. The main ship did not fire upon the opposing force, and was seen to be carrying a large stockpile of unmarked data storage devices and the recently-uncovered Unknown Origin Hyperspace Generators.
The second appearance of the vessel was confirmed without the fighter screen, and near a close-by anomaly, as they predicted. The vessel remained within the area long enough to 'fire' upon the anomaly, collapsing it, then disapearing in the same manner as it had before. Battlegroup Auxesia felt they were entitled enough to demand any information regarding these new entities to be handed over for processing. I told them where they could shove it into, but they left only knowing as much as they did before their arrival.
These new 'Cultists' could be either an unknown force keeping tabs on Baxter anomalies that appear too unstable for civilian safety, or a danger to all who oppose them. Thier fighter screens have shown that they come with near-hostile intentions, but we have yet to find out if the 'Cult' has larger intentions, or if there are more 'mothership' class vessels within their ranks.
