Okay now that GTA IV is officially my bitch, having completed it utterly. Its time to give my thoughts on just how good this game is. For GTA's fist steps into the world of next gen gaming it works nicely. The plot works and the characters are believable if a little over the top. But then this wouldn't be GTA if all you did was wander down to the shops and buy groceries so that you can stuff your face whilst playing video games. Graphics are good, given that you have an entirely fleshed out city with no loading times. Don't expect halo 3 prettiness, but they are still good enough to give you that immersive feeling. Controls are good, I've seen some complaints about car handling, people saying that the cars just don't drive like they used to, and i'd have to agree with that. They don't. They handle much more like real cars, more akin to Gran Turismo than Ridge Racer. This doesn't mean you can't handbrake turn thorugh the corners and drive at 120mph it just means you need the right car to do it. There's no shortage of vehicles, although planes are sadly unavailable and choppers are somewhat lacking in variety, three types of maverick and the Annhilator, a sort of black hawk clone. It certainly doesn't seem as huge as San Andreas, although there are just as many hidden packges and each of the three islands isn't exactly small.

The biggest problem I had is that it felt like a return to GTA III, not much outside of the story to keep you playing once you've completed it. Replay wise this is only going to last until they produce another installment. Unlike SA which I go back to every now and again to play all over again.
