MySQL was under the services tab, but when I attempted to start the service, it terminated with the error "Error: 1067, The Process Terminated Unexpectedly"

That's most likely to be incorrect install or a problem with configuration. I suggest you to reinstall it using default settings. Also don't forget to remove MySQL service from windows services (see first reply). Can't say much else without looking into it (remote access).
