The Vereinigte Widerstandsarmee recently contacted The Guild to raise the alarm regarding a hostile ship in Sigma-59. Three Guild ships were scrambled to investigate.

Upon arrival, the ship was encountered, sporting a scrambled IFF, and instructed to cut its engines. Indisputably alien signatures were emanating from the Wraith, which was utilising a great deal of Nomad equipment. Its pilot insisted on defying Guild directives ordering it to stop. An Order cruiser, the VWA cruiser Ostara and a VWA Wraith were already on the scene.

Guildmember Hiroshi requested permission to engage the ship in single combat, which was granted. After he gained the upper hand in his duel, the hostile ship chose to self destruct, possibly to evade capture or salvage of its equipment.

Communications Log

The Order and VWA ships then claimed to be heading to the Omicrons. Guild ships assumed a flanking position to escort them to their destination. Part of the discussion on the way revolved around The Order's use of revolutionary cloak disruption technology. The group proceeded through Sigma-59 and eventually reached the Omicron Zeta jump hole. Given The Guild's lack of knowledge of the system, our escort duty provided the opportunity to learn more of the local terrain. Upon emergence from the jump hole, the party entered a nearby nebula, eventually reaching another jumphole. Interestingly, there was an alien presence in close proximity.

The second jumphole deposited our ships in another nebula in the Omicron Mu system, where a trail of navigation buoys marked the path to an Order station. Security was high, with the presence of a battleship and several weapons platforms. With the escort complete and vital data gathered, Guild ships returned to the Sigmas.

Communications Log

The final encounter involved a Unioner ship in Sigma-17. Being an aggressive band of terrorists who would love nothing more than the restoration of Imperial Rheinland and the grudges it would hold, it would be prudent to immediately ban this organisation from Guild space. The pilot of this ship, equipped with a cloaking device, refused to cooperate with any directives issued, and was subsequently engaged, before self destructing in the atmosphere of Planet Kurile.

The day's events have made several things clear:

The alien menace must be addressed directly in order to ensure the security of Guild space.
Were the VWA and Order cruisers in Sigma-59 in fact hostile ships, the Guild assets available would have only just been sufficient in neutralising the threat they posed, especially considering it would have involved combat in open space. It is clear that Guild doctrine must be updated in order to deal with the modern landscape in the Sigma systems and the new challenges it presents. A new chapter in GMG history will be opened: the development of original heavy assets.
The use of revolutionary anti-cloak technology witnessed in the Order's possession must be evaluated for potential introduction to the GMG paramilitary.
The violent movement calling themselves the Unioners must be kept clear of Guild space,
The navigational data acquired will be invaluable in cataloguing the changes to the Sigma systems caused by the last ion storm, and exploratory efforts must be stepped up immediately.
