The Experiment

They were nearing the range now and getting closer to there freedom, Silver heard the roar of powerfull engines overhead, he expected to see Kusari military dragons, but instead he was greated by the imense bulk of a super transport, so his message had gotten through afterall, he almost cried out in joy. That joy was short lived however, one of the artillery shells had struke home and he turned to see one of his dragoness' falter. He stoped and ran back, a few of his other dragons provideing cover for him, he checked her over, a piece of the shrapnel had imbeded itsself in her back, her vitals were strong as he checked them and lifted her onto his back and began to run in teh direction of the mountain range again.

As they got to the entrance to the center of the range, and the waiting transport beyond, he stoped and gestured to a couple of dragons awaiting his orders.

Silver: "You, take her to the transport, if you or anyone else was bread with medical knowledge treat her, theres shrapnel in her back".

He turned to the other dragon that he had summoned

Silver: "You, whats your name?".

Storm: "My name is Storm, sir".

Silver: "Okay, Storm, gather those with anti vehicle weapons and come meet me over there".

Silver gestured to the left side of the pass and ran off that way, along the way he had swaped his rifle for a heavy repeating cannon from one of the other dragons. When he reached the clifface he jumped onto a boulder and turned to the other dragons.

Silver: "Continue onto where the transport awaits us, there friends, one of them you may remember from the facility, a female that went by the name Ember, shes friendly, some of us will buy you the time you need and slowly fall back, were going to do as much damage to that armor as we can. go!".

Storm: "Sir, these are all the heavy weapon troops we have, four anti tank rifles, two guided rockets and two heavy mortar crews".

Silver: "Verry good, ok, heres what we are going to do. Storm, you take two of the anti tank rifle crew and head up to the other clifface there. the other two of you come with me. you guided missile and heavy mortar crews head up the pass roughly 300 yards, when we start to fall back start shelling them with mortars and rockets, me and storm will set up our squads at the entrance to the clearing and cover your retreat, once you pass us get to the transport and have its gunner bring down the siddes of the pass to block whatever troops are left, good luck, move out!".

Troops: "Yes Sir!".

All of them together spread there wings and leapt up into the air and ascended to there assigned positions. When both squads had set up on either side of the pass, Silver gave the signal to begin fireing. The rifle squads began fireing first as there weapons had the greatest range and power, the noise of the weapons was deafining, after there first shot 3 of the light vehicles were burning, the troops that had used them for protection had died in the resulting explosion, the fourth shot had blown the weapons rack off of the left side of one of the heavy armors turret, it had stoped and began to open fire on the other squad and they were forced to take cover. Silver taped the nearest dragon on the shoulder as he loaded a shell the size of his forearm into the weapon and pointed to the heavy armor, the dragon nodded his understanding and lined up the shot and fired, the resulting explosion was huge as the ammo stores in the vehicle had ignited.

Silver gestured to the other squad to take there shot and begin to fall back to the next firepoint and set up. As all bit silver glided down to the ground and began running back Silver set up his heavy repeating cannon, it had eight heavy rounds in its side loading clip, he looked into its scope, the cannons sensors started scanning the field infront of him, regestering targets, one of which caught his attention, it was moveing fast towards the rifle crews, probably in an attempt to cut them down as they retreated. He took aim, the cannnon giveing Silver a predicted intercept point for his shells to hit the vehicle and he opened fire, the barrel recoiling once every second over his shoulder for eight seconds and expending the shell cases down behind him, he sucedded in blowing the front left section of the scout car off and it fliped into the air and exploded when it contacted with a large rock. Silver quickly stowed the cannon over his back and glided down to the pass and began to run towards the second line, as the rifle crews had passed them, the mortar crews and rocket troopers had begun to open fire, Silver kept his path in a strait line as rockets passed close to him on there way to there targets, he never faltered as he had every confidence in them to avoid hitting him.

He finnaly reached that crew and lay along the ground, setting the repeating cannon on its bipod mount he loaded another clip and turned to the others.

Silver: "Okay you lot, get moveing, get to the transport and have there gunner stand ready for my signal".

As one, the mortar and rocket crews dismantled there gear and stowed them across there backs and turned to Silver.

Troops: "Good luck Sir".

Silver nodded to them and smiled, they may have been made by artificial means, but they were still hatched from eggs as the dragons of old had been, and were his brothers and sisters and he loved them as such, even more so as there commander, they had preformed superbly, if the Kusari wanted a demonstration of there abilities, they sure as hell were getting one now. He turned and looked forward into the cannons scope, its sensors regestering small targets outside its optimal range, the troops had advanced forward, no doubt followed by the remainder of the armor, they must be reluctent to loose there armor if they had sent the troops in first. He raised the cannon slightly and opened fire, the shells had riped through the troops, blowing limbs off or simply punching holes through them to strike the soldier behind, the rest had taken cover by the time he had expended all eight rounds. Again like before Silver stowed the cannon on his back and retreated to the last defence line.

As he reached the line, he stoped like before, he could see the transport a short distance away, could see a few of his dragons in a defence line at the base of the loading ramps. he turned and set up the cannon once again and turned.

Silver: "Storm! Fire at will!".

Storm: "Aye Sir!, you heard him, fire at will!".

With the order given the rifle crews opened fire on the light and heavy armor, blowing piecies off or imobilizing the others, within about two minuits the Kusari troops were closeing and with his snipers low on ammo and his own all but spent he gave the order to fall back, as they retreated an energy weapon struck Silvers right thigh and went through, he stumbled and fell to his knees, turning he fired off a few pistol rounds, the Kusari troops had covered the distance faster than he expected. The dragons at the base of the transport becan to open fire, a hail of energy blasts passing overhead, Storm helped Silver to his feet and they covered the remaining distance to the base of the transport.

Sevarith: "I thought you could do with a last defence line" he smiled at Silver.

Silver: "Aye, well thought of and appreciated, now, lets bring the walls down".

Sevarith: "Aye sir"

Sevarith taped on a comm just inside the transport doors.

Sevarith: "Bridge, Sevarith. Open fire! bring the walls down on there heads!".

Silver turned to the troops as the transports cannons opened fire.

Silver: "Lets go! lets go! move out!".

They all proceded into the transport as it slowly began to lift into the air, but it wasnt over just yet....
