russian carriers appear not to look too much different to any other carriers.. - and why should they... they are boats with a flat deckpart and a tower.. guess there is not too much room for design ideas...
about the anime pictures of that japaneese battleship... - i find it very interesting how the naval "ship" ... sort of evolves into something that has allmost no resemblence to the naval origin anymore, - but when you know what its coming from... you still see the similarties.
the 3rd one ( the red one ) doesn t look naval at all anymore... while the blue white one still clearly shows classic elements of a naval vessel.
when you look at those, its a shame that we cannot design animated turrets in freelancer... i mean REAL turrets. not spinning guns. - how cool would it be if we really had spinning twin turrets 1/10th the size of the ship itself ( and then only like 3 of them ) ... well, instead we have great ships with turrets so small that you cannot really see them at all ( leave bretonian turrets that are at least "allmost" or a respectable size )
edit: ahh, i really like the design. - i still don t think it fits into Freelancer really, - but even with that opinion, i m not really sure. a bit torn between agreeing with it completely or completely not. - i love all the elements of it - except for the flat deck. i just cannot seem to like it much - its still so much... a flying aircraft carrier. - something you still expect in the water.
but i don t know if bending the deck upwards helps much. - with that shape, everyone simply expects a deck like that.
i guess when you texture it - without texturing a landing deck but only like default hull parts there - it ll look all different. - and while i know that its a characteristic of a carrier to have the tower sideways ( and personally, i love ships that have the bridge sideways ) - it makes no sense here - have you tried to move it into the middle of the ship? - just to see if it looks more like a spaceship then and less like a naval ship that some evil inventor strapped thrusters on?
