I may be a little slow, but since when you can FR5 your own NPC faction? Or I've missed something and 101st are no longer identifying themselves with Outcasts?

Since MaEx. You can FR5 everyone that doesn't play along the Official Factions rules, no matter if it's just one player or an entire unofficial group.

Ok since this thread is already way off topic I might as well ask another off topic question. If you get FR5'd to be red to your own faction, would it then be ok for you to engage ships of your own faction? Does the FR5 of 101st justify 101st shooting NCs with regular engagement RP?

I think it does not, at least this case suggests so:

13th|HMS-Argosax has had their reputation made hostile to the Bretonia Armed Forces.

Does this mean I can attack them offensively?

If you wish to do so, I suggest switching to a different ID or SRPing one that fits. The FR5 only covers your reputation - it gives you no extra lines regarding your ID.
