COMM-ID: Eliza Valdez Subject: Omicron Delta report Priority: High
Buenos dias,
In the last week Omicron Delta has seen increased activity both from parties normally operating in the area as well as outsiders who came to aid the Zoners of Freeport 11. Our main objective was to cull Corsair, Order and Core presence in the system during the whole chaos which we have been only partially successful in due to a few limiting factors:
First and foremost we were under-equipped to deal with the opposition. The enemy had overwhelming numbers of capital warships and limited or almost none fighter support that our Sabre squadrons were equipped to effectively harass. This lead to having to rely on distractions from the Core battlegroup in order to be able to isolate and destroy ships separated from the main enemy warships.
Furthermore the would be neutrality Zoners tried to enforce around the Freeport caused us problems as well. Multiple times enemy ships were loitering in it to avoid confrontation and even if we caught them outside of it they attempted fleeing into it. Contrary to what we've expected the Zoners did not mind this and in fact tried to force us to disengage because of their desperation for allies against the Core. On a few occasions the Zoners confronted us and even opened fire on our vessels. We were forced to deal with them in self-defense resulting in the destruction of at least one OSI vessel at our hands and some light damage to other Zoner vessels.
Now onto the more important issue I want to report regarding Omicron Delta. On 9.1.824A.S. at 17:35:03 SMT Core radicals on board of 3 Mako class warships managed to breach the defensive perimeter of Freeport 11 and detonate a NEMP bomb. The result wasn't pretty, it's blast radius was over 10 klicks and nearly torched everything in the vicinity of Freeport 11, myself and 'Wyrm' included. I've attached visuals of it below. What it left behind was a completely unusable husk of a station with notable traces of the NEMP bomb. Luckily we had no personnel on the station at the time of the explosion so damage was limited with some sensors fried and slight burn on the hull. The divesting explosion was followed by a Nomad attack upon the Corsair fleet that was planing to defend the Freeport from the Core. We used the opportunity to further damage enemy assets, but that heated up the situation with the Zoners further. Some of theirs fire upon our ships and we again were forced to do warning shots against the Zoner side. Afterwards due to the state of the Freeport as well as the heated situation with Zoners all our forces returned to Malta.
Overall I would call the last few days a success in terms of damage caused to enemy assets given the hardware and manpower we had at our disposal. In the future I would recommend having complimentary bombers to the squadrons for more efficient anti-capital ship combat.
