Well it's not really a bug is it? It's due to the fact that vanilla ships are made with more components, and mod-added ships are usually just one piece.

It's the reason sabres and titans get dispatched by a single mine, and likewise battleships have certain parts which are made with lots of components ie. Osiris's engine section is vulnerable to explosives.
