let try to make this a constructive debate that some pssible good, fun can come out of this. i really do think there is a happy medium in the middle
Yes i am new, and i am going to make mistakes. On the other hand after about 4 months of actually playing the game, i think i get the general understanding of the whoel rp nature.
okay just re-read most of the main posts in this topics i see 2 debates
1) - could an indie player possibly a cap ship rp-leagally - probably not.
I agree that corsica makes, controls, and license all outcast ships if they are only MANUFACTURED there, not where ever they are sold. not knowing what size ship can be considered to be built planetside, i'm going to assume that would mean anythig bigger that a freighter-class vessel since a planet couldnt make a ship that size planetside, and since i see no other shipyard in outcast space, corsica is the only place it could come from. It hurts me so much to say this, as this entirely kills any chance of me getting my dreadie as an indie, but hey, its my honest opinion now. This is where my bad rp mistake first was and now i see the error of my ways. I still think my rp contract offer was nice enough to cover it. The rp story, probably not good enough. In fact, im just gonna say not good enough and give up all together.
This then leads to the other debat i see -
2) - how does an indie player ever get the chance to fly a big ship without joining a faction and all that comes with it if the police their cap ship policy - they dont, and this is the problem.
for the same reason some people choose not to join the armes forces of their country, some players do not want to join an offical faction and get bogged down with taking orders. thats why they are called independent.
If there were a Civilian Battleship, all the indie's could be forced to buy that in an rp manner, i can easily see this with my limited knowlegde of the rp environment here. That is asking for a lot from the already overtaxed developers and admins. So that leaves us the community. Simple solution - designate one currently unpoliced cap ship manufacture as the only rp-legit one indies could fly. Perhaps the Osiris for the BS, Huntress or Talarca Cruiser (not sure who makes those) for the crusier/destroyer class. Not sure what to do about the gunboats. Perhaps leave those open to all chars since i dont know of a good canidate (suggestions anyone).
I still think the best way would be to do an 'assigning" of ship the way start-up faction members is done, but, once again, i think that is asking too much from Fellow_Hood and his peers (or whoever handels that part). We can only imangine what they would say if we asked them to do this. after reading many of Hoods write up in the rules violation reports forum, i can amlost imagine his stright forward response - just read SpaceMerc's quote in my sig.
