I think I am going to let someone else take over the events, it seems as though my approach is not working anymore. The devs should have the event systems ready within the next month anyway, so it is just stepping away a bit earlier than then.

Exactly. Almost every event thread had some ridiculously petty drama towards the event's end. Discovery has always been like this from what I recall, people being special snowflakes and feeling entitled to some imaginary fair-play and then going ballistic because their "expectations" are not met.
