Misfit's Log

Power management is difficult. Ever since I've had this Ingenuus Power Cell installed, I've been running my Osprey at a reduced power rate, which is not much different to running the ship on it's old powerplant which is approximately 75% the efficiency of the regular Zoner powerplant for this ship. The reason for this is that I've been testing it's compatibility. I'm sure the IRG have made sure the ship and power cell work well together, but of course I'm conducting my own tests and benchmarks to see just how high up I can crank this power cell. I'll be sure to not everything down just in case I have issues in the future, but that'll be stored somewhere outside of this log.

For now though, I'll say a little bit about the way I've been meaning to conduct these tests. A sort of preamble to my notes if you will.

When I first picked up my ship from Ames Research Station, I was a little cautious about how I should use this new power cell. On the one hand, it was explained to me by Dr. Erzie himself that this new powercell did nothing to stop the random electromagnetic and radiation emissions that were coming from the wings and rear of my ship, and if anything had in fact made them worse. I wasn't too concerned by this, because I new it was a long shot to begin with. On the other hand, I was faced with this super-powerful source of energy that I somehow had to make work with all of my ship systems and components. I figured then that it would be best if I didn't try to take immediate advantage of this new power cell, and instead I should see if I could optimise it's use and perhaps even find my own way to solve my cloaking device compatibility problems, by using the powercell to power other systems and see if I could distribute power elsewhere to curb the emissions coming from my ship.

I flew from Ames Research Station back to Trenton at half power. Making sure I only powered my engines, my weapons on standby, and my comms suite. Navigation wasn't necessary as I knew the route. With this distribution setting, the emissions were still coming out of the rear and wings of my ship, however I did notice my ship was a lot quieter, likely due to the pressurisation and atmospheric controls being disabled for the short trip.

Once I returned to Trenton I started tests in the hangar. I've done tests like that before I got the powercell and for the most part the emissions weren't dangerous (with the exception of frying a datapad I had on me at the time), so I knew it would likely just be a repeat performance of that test but with larger and more powerful emissions. So I was careful. I slowly powered on all my systems as I would if I were about to undock from the station. First main power, then onboard computer systems, then thrusters to get me off the deck. Once off the deck, I made sure the emissions weren't messing with anything in the hangar, paying close attention to the electric arcs emanating from the ship's rear. Anything the arcs were touching weren't being scorched or burning up, so I proceeded to turn on the rest of my ship's systems one by one. None of the additional systems seemed to worsen the effects of the emissions and no noticeable increase in radiation was performed.

Anyway. I'll elaborate on these notes more somewhere else. For now I have more testing and assessing to do before I increase the power draw from this cell.

Misfit out.
