Biography

Martin McKinsey was born into a blue collar family on Planet Leeds and raised for a proud, textbook example of a working class citizen. Family members served BMM for several generations, from the boron deposits in Omega 3, through goldfields in Dublin up to niobium surveys in the Taus - miners, ingeneers, shipbuilders and haulers paste the McKinsey geneological tree, from root to leaf. Yet the fate of the young lad was to become a different one.

In his years of work Martin had lived through both the Kusari standoff and the Gallic invasion. At the time when Leeds was overrun by the GRN advance he stationed at "Rosmery" mining platform out in Dublin. The news hit him like a spear right through his patriotic soul as it became apparent, he most likely just lost his beloved industrial home world. After a few weeks the first lists of Leeds citizens missing or confirmed as killed became public - both his parents, who enjoyed their well deserved retirement, as well as his brother who was just months from receiving his masters of engeneering diploma, were all in the reports. His twin sisters, both barely of age at that time, had taken matters into their own hands joining the Leeds resistance force. However both were K.I.A. in the heavy guerrilla fights within the first weeks of the occupation. It was a devastating strike for a 24 year old lad to not only learn about his family tree been torn out from solid ground, roots chopped and burned, but moreover see the mighty kingdom and empire to whose glory he devoted his insignificant life, crumble piece by piece.

By the time Planet Harris - the last Bretonian outpost in the Taus fell, Edinburgh and Leeds suffered the mad king's boot and GRN forces were already making their way to Magellan, Manchester and Newcastle, Martin started to develop a conviction that despite all efforts, loyal allies and the tough fighting spirit of his kin, it was not those qualities that would ensure success in mordern days warfare. While superb strategy, wise politics or die-hard patriotism were naturally still some of the building blocks of a secure house, their significance began to seemd to him rather outdated. Somewhat overwhelmed by the current drama, Martin issued his resignation from BMM and left Bretonia alltogether to gain perspective.

Pending from one freeport to another the last McKinsey of his stem made his living on jobs of opportunity conducting small scale mining and shipbreaking along the Omegas, Sigmas and Rheinland. It was around that time when he came to realise, that what Bretonia actually lacked in its struggle was simply the technological edge.

In the depths of the borderworlds one stumbles upon a lot of wreckage, some of it ages old, some rather recent, still warm from hull piercing laser fire. Most of what Martin found on those derelict craft was traces of cargo looted by some of the many pirates in these parts, broken equipment, rotting bodies of crews and pilots, and the occasional trinket that would make the trip barely pay for itself. His yet unknown quest lead him to the infamous Omega 55 system, where he learned about The Core for the first time.

Attracted by the myths and stories about mysterious regions in the edge worlds of Sirius, divine artifacts salveged from ancient ruins, exotic minerals in abundance, ominous technologies of overwhelming power, he enlisted to AP Manufacturing, the engineering and econimic arm of The Core. He was no longer the young, naive, idealist lad from a rund down rural region - he was alone, lost, with literally nothing to lose.

Upon acceptance to the APM, Martin McKinsey strived to quickly prove his value. The effort and devotion he contributed to the cause were soon rewarded as Guildmistress Ruby Hydra herself promoted him to Templar of the Core. Most honoured by this career advancement, Martin kept on flying and highting for his new found home. With a new purpose in life, he served The Core as the shield that guards the realms of men, assisting APM divisions in development of cutting edge technologies, conducting reconnaissance behind enemy lines, espionage into highly classified corporate projects and more. Despite the occasional visit to his former homeland, since joining the ranks of The Core McKinsey never really looked back. He believes now more than ever that technological edge is the key to greatness.

Today Martin McKinsey is the CEO of AP Manufacturing, by the grace of the God Empress. Ambitious projects, dangerous partnerships and glorious accomplishments stand open before him, as he lays down stepping stones for others to follow and make Imperium Omicronis reality.
