Community Input: Starting Location

We have Penny connected with New York because when people enter the more familiar setting of Liberty (where most re-plays of Freelancer both start and end as people remember that the SP for the game wasn't good), they are greeted with the currently most active house in the mod.

Jeez, have you ever wondered why it's the most active house in the mod? Have you ever wondered why it has ever been?

Do not introduce systems that are meant to be interpreted as oorp ones with one-way jumpholes or exist just for the sole purpose of tutorialing. Players, especially new ones, need to be exposed to RP as fast as possible. They need to be placed in a system with the most amount of non-newbie players as possible.

Otherwise we have a situation where a new player is introduced to the game world in a system that follows no RP logic and then expect to know that the next system they are dumped into isn't like that.

RP logic would be demanded from anyone right outside that tutorial system.

Seriously, it almost feels like you have a bias towards Liberty. I'm pretty sure it's more fair to allow the ability to start out in any capital of one's choice, and more efficient to grant sufficient, extensive and detailed information in the tutorial system instead of leaving it to the occasional flyby vet what they tell and don't tell about the game. Bret's idea seems solid, just what we may need, no more, no less.

It's also nice to see that the mainstream knee jerk reaction against potential progress is still "don't fix what's not broken", an utterly subjective and narrow-minded attempt to just shrug off anything not fitting your own comfort zone, even if it would turn out to be beneficial to the community on the long run. Have you ever though about that if it's considered for fixing, then perhaps it's broken enough by that point?
