Being in the village, closer to the landing pad, would give Ayane the ability to get spaceside much more quickly if need be (or to get to her ship for a quick hit of cardamine). Her training was most likely making her paranoid, and she kept having to remind herself that she wasn't hiding from the Bretonian government. She saw several hotels on her way to John's house, but recalled her very comfortable camper-like accommodations in the front half of her cargo hold. Either way, she'd be fine.
"I agree; I'd love to get to know my way around the village so I won't be lost when I come back next time. I saw a couple interesting shops, and I'm sure you can let us know which bars we should go to."
Ayane walked with John and Aimi back down the drive leading out of the yard and back to the village. A quick gust of cold evening air made her feel glad she had worn her pea coat: Cambridge was chilly.
