The Omega Pirate Guild are a tricky enemy. Myself and Leutnant Von Seelenburg were in space due for training yesterday when we noticed a significant Outcast presence in Omega-41 on long range, and along with them - even more Corsairs. Immediately we sped off to the system with the intent to get rid of as many Corsairs as possible. We quickly joined in the fight and managed to dispatch two of the enemies with only a single loss from the Outcasts before the ion storm hit.
The warp took us all all the way to Omega-5 and scattered us across the system. Myself and Von Seelenburg managed to dock on Ronneburg to restock with the Outcasts joining us quickly. As it was I led the entire force (now consisting of two of us and two Outcasts) into the Hammen Hole to attack the Corsair filth before they could properly regroup.
One thing you learn during battles in the hell hole is to never underestimate your enemies. The Outcasts did not heed to that, and even though the Corsair fighter fell quickly and the two Corsair bombers were left intact with just Supernova cannons and torpedo launchers after the missile barrage we swamped them with, they still eventually managed to take out both Outcasts, and Leutnant Von Seelenburg. I was soon alone against two Corsair bombers and a Cryer IFF Stinger, trying to avoid their gunfire while dealing my own.
I managed to at least partially avenge my comrades by destroying the bomber Crucifix, managing a successful manuever after a carefully placed mini razor, blowing his own torpedo on his hull and obliterating his ship. Had I not stopped to admire the ball of fire, my ship would not have been critically damaged by the remaining bomber.
I had managed to make it to Ronneburg by thrusting my escape pod towards it before the Corsairs even noticed. Taking careful notes of the battle that day, my manuevers did a lot to annoy the enemy with not being able to get me in my crosshairs as I avoided his line of fire altogether for as long as possible. As such I do believe we are on to something in countering Corsair bomber tactics. It will all come out on Friday, when we strike the Hammen Hole with a force capable of taking and holding it against the vile Corsair advance.
The Hessians cannot falter! And we will not.
On other matters: Leutnant Farb is to be commended for the vast amount of footage provided from his HUD camera. This material will prove incredibly useful in training sessions and promotion videos. Well done, we could use more tapes like this.
