Well, we can't cater to everyone. Not everyone can be satisfied. Besides, successful communication is necessary for RP.

3.4 Out-of-character (OOC) chat should not be used for system chat. Using out-of character in roleplaying chat should be marked with "OOC".
maybe you guys like to type, but not me, i have a hard enough time trying to learn ROFL, LOL, and all the other word briefs on the internet, i dont neet to stress myself with typing OOC before every sentence i want to type. i think if you guys exsorcise a little common sense you guys can figure out RP from normal chatting.
Its excessively annoying and would essentially make RP "optional" which, from general player consensus, has been decided as the way this server will be run. 100% RP.

3.6 Character name on server should not consist of random symbols or contain any abusive content. Remember that Discovery is a role-playing server; choose your name accordingly. Sanction: changing the name if character owner specifies the new name, or character deletion with no refund.
i hope you guys consider some of those korean keyboards that have keys that most games or american computers dont understand.
Then they'll be deleted. Its for server stability. We can only satisfy so many.

3.7 Using long character names (25+ symbols) is not allowed. Sanction: character deletion with no refund.
this is the one i love, can freelancer even allow a 25 charachter name? not to my knowlege, so why is this even a rule?
Character names can be modified to be longer, however only through admin-intervention or player hacking.

4. Faction Rules

4.1 The same character is not allowed to join more than 1 faction. Characters from one account can join different factions freely, unless faction policy specifies another rule for this, but no more than 2 system-owning factions at one time.
huh? you can multifaction as long as its not on the same charachter, how do you multifaction with one charachter, am i the only one who doesnt understand this rule

4.6 Remember that Discovery is a roleplaying server. Factions and faction members (just like all other players) are obliged to act in the way their reputation and status require. Factions are expected to set an example in role-play.

4.8 Sanctions for violating faction rules, including out-of-RP behaviour, may be applied to the whole faction as well as a certain player. This may happen if a large part of the faction is violating the rules specified, and if the leader(s) of the faction endorse the violations committed by players, ignore the warnings and do not attempt to improve the situation, or violate rules themselves. Sanctions for a faction include credit/equipment fine and placing inside the prison system for all characters or part of characters belonging to a faction.
another words if we play here we arent human beings but your robots sworn to play the way YOU want and not free to set any RP of our own, and not to socialize on the side. thats what im getting out of that statement
RP is hardly restricted here, much less than Freeworlds, at least the one I was on for a bit. All it says is that if you're a police guy, you don't go around killing traders for no reason.

5. General PvP Rules

5.6 If a player engages cruise engine or docks during a PvP fight, this player is considered fleeing. The fleeing player must leave and may not re-enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) while the enemy (player or players involved in the fight) remains in the system, but no more than 4 hours.
WHAT????? are you people from this planet? what ifyou just want to get your shelds back up in the fight?? i mean really, there is a fine line between tactics and fleeing, this just walls it up right here. and a four hour time limit to return? gimmie a break. what am i suppose to do while i wait read a book?

there's that 4 hours again, so let me get this strait im a trader, and i find this sweet route to this system that a pirat happens to be sitting in, and instead of challenging him by trying to find a diff way in after i died from the first attempt, i have to sit like a lump for 4 hours, and find a diff trade route? screw you guys
If the player respawns in the same system, he/she must leave the system without engaging. Other players are not allowed to attack one who is leaving.

you know i have a better solution for you guys on this rule, and ill take an excerpt from my current mod, freeworlds, try this, when a player dies in a fight he is not allowed to return to the fight untill the players call all clear hence when the fight is done, that means if he is on a base where the fight happens to be, he must either wait at the base and play cards or switch to another char and do something else. banning the player from the entire system is way to extreme. some systems are huge.

5.9 After a death in a PvP fight, players should switch to other characters (preferably with different role-playing status) for no less than 4 hours.

what if that player sucks and expended all 5 chars on his account, so he's not allowed to play anymore?
Then he can move to the NEXT system over. If he dies in New York, he can go to California... Besides, getting killed by players 5 times in four hours? ... That's almost unheard of, except in training. This was to make it a little easier for people who have to defend places. For example, the Rheinland Military against Unioners. Is it really fair for the Unioners to attack and die, only to come back 15 minutes later with a group of extra Bundschuh and Hessians? Then, if they lose again... to have it happen all over again? Hey, did we mention that some people actually wanted it to be 24 hours?

im not gonna comment on each section in this area cause i think its probably the worst part of the mod.

i want to find the original guy who invented this freaking badge system on this mod, WTS, and DS9 mod and just slap him untill my hand is sooo red it would fall off.
That would be the guy who made the mod...

when i used to play here the badges you bought for your ships would fall off mounted or no. and then you had to spend another million or so just to re-aquire them, also some of them were so obscenely priced that sometimes you couldnt afford them if the server police told you to buy it.
I don't know how you mounted them... Try the equipment dealer? They've always worked JUST FINE on this mod. They replace the scanner in this mod. P.S. THERE ARE NO SERVER POLICE ON THIS SERVER. NEVER HAVE BEEN.

let me tell you how we do it on freeworlds (we don't like Freeworlds too much, here), and its worked real well for about 4 years. you want to play, you make a CIV, and you have a [CIV] tag, if you want in a faction, a faction leader or someone with faction moderators access on the forums adds you to the memberlist. and you make your charachters with there tags, in our case its starwars like [IMP] [NR] etc. get it? no badges, no need for scanning ships for no reason, you see that there the enemy and attackthem, if your looking for smugglers then you scan there cargo. none of this "halt! who goes there" crap.
How is that any better? That makes it impossible for someone to do their own thing as a solo pirate, etc. Especially if you limit the "CIV" ships to the worst ones in the mod.

im sorry to rag on you guys so bad for this but im sorry your server rules are so stiff and rigid it makes it completely ..... un fun to play, you constantly have to look over your shoulder and make sure your not breaking some silly rule that ruins the original art of the game,
So... Completely eliminated the individual from the game is better? You can either fly as a CIV and do nothing or join a faction and do exactly what they want? Also, can you create a brand new fresh idea in Freeworlds? As I remember, I played there for a number of weeks before deciding to start a small Merc group with me a friend of mine. No more than five of us... We didn't ask for good ships and we got denied because... What was it? "We already have mercenaries. Join them." We didn't want to, so we left the mod and server silently.

the game is called freelancer, not ShackledPrisonerLancer
Freeworlds servers, as far as I can tell, have ALWAYS been MUCH MORE RESTRICTIVE.
just some food for thought..

if you guys delete this post because you feel my opinion isnt worth a hill of beans, then it proves my point that you all have no room for peoples individuality and freethought. just an fyi
P.S. You're very close-minded... And we do advocate Freedom of speech on these forums, at least as best we can without personally insulting people (hopefully). We don't delete posts often... Unless they are really bad.
