Flight log: Jay Anderson
We are facing another Jump Gate incident in less than a month, which I would call an alarming trend. The current situation with Jump Gate between California and New York system begin unfolding just hours ago. Ageira~Leonov was dispatched within a few hours from the first reports to make an assessment of damage to the gate, its source and repairs strategy.
Upon arrival to the gate site in New York system, we made first observations of the anomaly. A cloud of irradiated particles is engulfing the construction and spans up to 3k clicks in all directions. Our sensors identified the cloud as an ionized gas holding together due to strong EM field. It is not clear yet if the cloud is causing the emissions, or is just a side effect of whatever else is the cause of it.
Leonov proceeded to the gate and we noticed some trace EM activity in the gas cloud. It proved to be not dangerous to properly shielded and armored vessel though. Telemetry teams scanned gate and its systems remotely, then we approached the installation and I sent survey crews to visually inspect it. Needless to say that remote management of the gate was completely unresponsive and no diagnostic information, let alone the logs of the incident itself, was recovered so far.
The gate itself has sustained some physical damage, most likely from small explosion inside the aperture grid. However, most of this damage is torn plating, crushed joints and surface scratches. Nothing that cannot be patched rather quickly with standard hull panels.
The most severe damage was done to electronic harness of the gate though. Most of circuits that control the aperture grid, the gate's flaps, docking access and jump sequence itself are literally scorched and melted and require complete replacement. We are estimating the required amount of replacement circuit boards at the moment, orders are to be placed to production facilities in a few hours.
I would recommend CEO of Ageira Innovations to issue a mobilization call to all our assets until this crisis is solved. No hostile ships were spotted in the vicinity of the gate, however, the New York system was raided by Outcast forces throughout a day, as per our readings. Therefore, extreme caution is to be used at all times, and armed escort recommended to all transports involved in the repair operation.
