Why is PvP so damn difficult?

Honestly, this was one of my biggest mood killers when I tried disco again after years.

Back in the days when I was young, there were things like mini-razors, but missiles still were something.

I still remember there was some issue about missiles being laggy / not working properly at a given high server load, though.

Missiles are far better now than they were in .85 or earlier, when a single well timed CD could counter them in duels and they would never hit in chase due to countermeasures. Now there's an 80% chance or so of them bypassing CMs entirely, and you need lightning fast reflexes to CD a 400 m/s sidewinder in time.

Dear diary. It is 12:45 AM. I have an interview tomorrow, but I decided to check the Discovery forums before heading to sleep. Thread number 153537 continues to defy Peto's Paradox, growing larger and more malignant by the second. I could perform surgery, but it would increase the risk of the tumor metastasizing. Better to let it stay where it is for now rather than excising it and letting it spill over into the rest of the forums. I think.

I'm going to bed now. I may have a look at the... Discoma? Forumoma? Before I leave tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I'll have time. It should be interesting to see how this plays out. Durandal, lead art developer and senior balance developer, signing off.

I should reiterate - I don't think there are very many toxic people on Discovery at all, contrary to popular staff belief. Congregations of angry people tend to drop in collective IQ points the larger they become, though. Any one person posting in this thread who is emotionally invested in it in any way is likely much more reasonable when spoken to in private. I know there's a word for this particular phenomenon, but unlike Peto's Paradox I can't pull the name out of my arse which I blame on being tired and on the medical and IT fields being my specialty, not any sort of social or psychological sciences.
