Biography:
Vasileios was born into a working class family living in Manta district on a not too warm April day in 798. His father, Demetrius, came from an agricultural family working in the vast farmlands, but had moved to Manta in hopes of forging himself a more prosperous lifestyle as a city worker. Due to his far from exceptional education he had to settle with blue collar manual labor in the district's blooming sea port industry. His mother, Kalliope, came from a not too prominent family native to the Manta district. After marrying Demetrius she became a housewife, mostly tending to their small home and raising the young Vasileios.
Life for the family in Manta was far from perfect with his father's sole wages, but it had it's own perks - Vasileios had a chance of higher education than his father's. In school the boy took interest in mathematics and physics, finding more comfort in the material side of the world than the spiritual. Regardless of his lack of belief in the mythological part of the Cult he still found their teachings and morals to be compatible with his own world view.
Upon finishing his high school education he aspired to take further education in one of Heraklion's universities, but his family's financial status would not allow it at the moment. As such he took a job alongside his father in the port as a simple blue collar worker. Vasileios viewed this turn of events as unfortunate halt to his growing potential, but could not see a way to change it, even though much like his father he wanted to make a better life for himself than what he currently had.
In Heraklion's recently renewed interest in space exploration he foresaw the chance to progress his personal potential further. Much like how his father left the farmlands and settled in Manta, Vasileios was to leave the comfortable familiarity of the city and shoot for the unknown of the stars above. He spent many evenings studying whatever materials he could find relating to astronomy, navigation, engineering and piloting in the cold vacuum of space. The sole thought of having the chance to explore the vast world beyond often kept him awake until the early morning and caused issues with his daytime work, which at this point he regarded as only a part time necessity until he could apply for the Custodi's space program.
What are your goals with the Custodi?:
Vasileios strives to further improve his own knowledge of the world and it's functioning and to acquire a much more prosperous career than working as a simple worker in one of Manta's numerous warehouses and sea docks. Seeing a bright opportunity in Custodi's space exploration he views the new frontier for his people as the perfect stepping stone into his own advancement in life and Heraklion's social structure.
