As I said, I don't know about the AFA guy..

but

we can argue for ages about "who left whom".

The situation in one explanation

4 Ships (KNF + AFA) are fighting 2 ships (BD + GC).

The GC thrusts away in one direction, while still under fire ( so you can't say he's leaving much), by the time he gets killed his pursuers are 10k away from you.

So they "ran" from you? Or you "ran" from them?

I would say neither, the fight got separated, so these two parties are not in a fight any longer and both sides can use cruise to come to the other one.

Edit:

5.6 If a player engages cruise engine or docks during a PvP fight, this player is considered fleeing.

I would say we were not in a fight then, also if you look at some sanctions people got sanctioned for thrusting away from a fight then coming to fight again in the same system. So it's not that "if you thrust you have never fled".
