Ten years is hard to believe, and I don't think I ever imagined it would arrive. I posted the original faction info thread on December 22, 2007, and then I left town to visit family, with a lot of trepidation about how this faction would be received. There were a lot of constructive critiques offered by Disco vets, and I made a lot of adjustments. The critical component of this faction's success were the incredible players who signed up in that first year. I think I am the only one still left here from that cohort, but I know that this faction became what it is largely due to the imagination and efforts of those first year members, who took this idea and implemented it brilliantly on the server and our forums.
What I am most pleased about is the consistent pursuit of high standards that this faction's members have aspired to. I set out to create a faction that I would want to join, and I am gratified that it has been a platform for others' imagination and excellence for a decade. To all Lane Hackers and Discovery players, past and present, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to share this with you.
