Yeah, I can completely support having the big guns (capships) hidden, and waiting to ambush anyone the pursues your fighters into say the badlands. Just as long as they don't do much attacking, cause while the rogues might be able to afford one (or the outcasts might give them a dessie), they for sure can't afford to send their caps to attack various targets. Not yet anyways.

If I may make a suggestion though. What if you guys made a huge RP effort before getting these ships to justfy affording it? Like set up a RP even where you guys can hijack a rather large shipment of gold, or other valuable goods.

Then theres also RPing attacking the prison stations, to perhaps liberate some rogue friends, to help man the new ship and maintain it, etc...
