Channel your energy into another region or faction to help you calm down. A change of pace can be really helpful.

This is pretty much what I did when I got bored playing my Xeno way back in the day. I switched to a Freelancer who mainly stuck to Kusari with side-trips to Bretonia and it really refreshed my interest in the game at the time.

Edit: If you still want a military faction, or their ships, try policing, instead. You can be a lot more lenient from an inRP standpoint, I feel. Alternatively, go for quasi-lawful, if you want the occasional pew.
