I would like to draw your attention on this particular bit.

2) I have real warfare experience and from it I should say that NOBODY cares about code of ethics or etiquette. The only things that matters is MISSION DONE or ENEMY ELIMINATED. When we destroy an enemy tank or infantry position, nobody asked whether we have number superiority or "they have fun". They obviously didn't have fun, because they are either dead, injured or captured. For "noble duels" there is Connecticut, for everything else - supremacy is what only matters. This having been said, I again draw attention to our back lore calling upon to avoid hostilities unless it is really necessary (i.e. as it was yesterday when a single corsair bomber threatened our BC and two fighters to leave Cayman system. This was ridiculous, so we pushed it back with all the forces we had as a result of his lunacy).

It's something that frequently pops up here, especially by newcomers, and it's perfectly understandable. You see this reasoning in other games, you see it in real life. I and plenty others in Disco have military experience too, and I'll give you the classic counter-argument : yes, in reality people will make sure they have overwhelming odds before attempting combat. BUT : this is not reality : it is a GAME that people play to have FUN. When I come home from my navy job, I don't seek to replicate what I've spent the day doing. I want to relax, enjoy good RP, and good fights : have fun, in a nutshell.

This can't be said enough : being overwhelmed is not fun. When you apply reality logic to Disco, someone will have a bad time. By all means, fight back with an advantage, say two fighters against one or some such : but piling on against a single target, especially with a capital ship, is indeed bad etiquette. As is often the case with etiquette, if it's bad, it is for a reason : reason here is, getting a fight that you have absolutely zero chance of winning is not fun. For any party, I would add : where's the fun in shooting at someone who cannot possibly fight back ? I suppose there is fun in there for some people but I don't see it myself. So, a few tips, then :

- Give people a fair fight. Not honourable mano a mano duels, this can't be realistically expected in every situation, and makes little sense inRP, especially for scientists as you pointed out very appropriately. No harm in securing an advantage, then, but make it not overwhelming.
- If forced into a fight by a particularly crazy pilot like in the Corsair case you mention, of course, fight back ! He's the one who provoked, after all. But it's not really necessary to chase and run him down afterwards : chase him off and go on with your scientific business.
- Always remember that you're playing a game, not fighting for your life, and the guy you're shooting at is playing a game, too : keep this in mind when interacting when others. If you make sure that everyone is having a good time, people will come to you eagerly for more !

Note that these are general statements and in no way personal accusations against you or your factions. All the contrary, actually ! Being a long time SCRA member, I am marvelled at your idea for a faction, it is an excellent idea to put some of that good old Soviet Space Race vibe in Disco, there's plenty of room for it in the community and in the Coalition lore. I've not had the pleasure of flying with you yet but I'll make sure to catch the next opportunity, and I've had a great time reading your reports so far. So please, take this as friendly advice and basic how-to tips to make sure you're off to a good start. I really wish to see the SCEC succeed in its endeavours, so good luck !!
