As ordered, Battleship Hotakadake and Battleship Shokaku joined to form a temporary battle-group, thereafter designated as Battle-group Hotakadake, towards the fulfillment of directive Nana-Roku: establish a bridgehead in the system recently identified by 53rd scouting division, colloquially referred as "Uncharted Kusari" by our scouts.
Assigned assets gathered close to Planet Kyushu gravity well. The battle-group was comprised of:
- Heavy unit Hotakadake - Battleship: Vice-Admiral Kawaguchi
- Heavy unit Shokaku - Battleship, Jump service : Rear-Admiral Yoshida
- Heavy unit Akagi - Destroyer: Rear-Admiral Yamamoto
- Heavy unit Burning Light - Destroyer
- Heavy unit Kashima - Destroyer
- Armored transport Asahi
- Interception wings Ichi-Rei and Go-San, respectively lead by Minamoto no Tametomo and Miyamoto Musashi (Squadron callsigns)
All units reported being fully ready and operational for a jump. Sadly, it appears one of the massive capacitors used by Battleship Shokaku jump drive suffered critical failure, leading to major discrepancies in astrogation computations. Heavy unit Akagi and Asahi were able to escape the jumping sequence in time while the rest of the Battle-group was sent to unknown space.
We ended up in quite a grim area, devoid of any activity and plagued with radiations. Our interception wings were sent to scout the vicinity, discovering several planets as well as what may be remains of a large planetoid scattered to solar winds. It is significant to note this system was a binary one, revolving around two stars.
Further exploration of the area revealed no life or any activity in the area whatsoever. Given the deadly radiations detected in the area, order was given to gather close to those large rocky formations that were quite reminiscent of the now lost Heaven's gate, so that another attempt could be made to jump to the hyperspace beacon deployed in 'Uncharted Kusari', thanks to the help of 66th.
Thankfully, our most excellent engineers were able to repair the damage done to that faulty capacitor during our exploration of system "Grim". The next jump proved to be quite successful, moving the battle-group close to that Freeport owned by those "Pioneers" Zoners encountered by our scouts.
Heavy unit Shokaku positioned itself to defend the Freeport from any aggression, while heavy unit Hotakadake retreated further into the asteroid field. Vice-Admiral Kawaguchi indeed reported the battleship suffered significant damage while exploring system "Grim". A request for repair equipment has already been sent to Battleship Myoko command.
Vice-Admiral Kawaguchi also asked me to mention that conversation with a Zoner present on scene. TheProfessor: ?: Who is the leader of the battle group? KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: Right now that would be me, Munehiko Kawaguchi.
TheProfessor: ?: A drone carrying a Hyperspace module mk 2 is close to this system. KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: Interesting. Any information on it's papers?
TheProfessor: ?: It was part of a plan to help the Pioneers. But... just as you... I am waiting for them. KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: We will be there shortly. They are obviously free to approach the Freeport.
TheProfessor: ?: The issue is ... that without any of you being able to dock the Freeport, you cannot mount the Hyperspace Scanner. KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: That is not an issue. We are not supposed to mount it on this vessel.
TheProfessor: ?: No ship larger than a Freighter can come through the JH. KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: The Shokaku support vessel is the one supposed to mount it.
TheProfessor: ?: The Axe looking thing? KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: Yes, the Tokugawa-class vessel.
TheProfessor: ?: What I could do, is wait here if they appear and try to get them to give you clrearance to dock. The other KNF-san, the Monk? it think, can dock . KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: Ideally we would want every vessel in this system containing KDS- in their callsign to be granted docking rights.
TheProfessor: ?: KDS, KNF? are they different? KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: Indeed. Currently only the primary fleet vessels with the [KNF] callsigns are able to freely dock on the Freeport. We would want the secondary fleet vessels with KDS- callsigns to be granted the docking rights.
TheProfessor: ?: So your ship can dock? KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: It can not at this moment.
TheProfessor: ?: My mistake, I was looking at the KNF one in front of my ship. Thank you for your time, and for the fact that you came here to help. KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: No problem. We will have to deploy this vessel at a range of 25 KM from the base, and supply the necessary. Batteries, nanobots and so on tomorrow. The support vessel Shokaku will stay here for now.
TheProfessor: ?: This will help against the Defilers... the last encounter was pretty rough... KDS-Hotakadake: Kawaguchi: Indeed, we are aware. Once we survey the area and bring more capital vessels in, it is going to be much easier. That is it for now. Kawaguchi out.
Battle-group Hotakadake will attempt to have a word with the representatives of these Zoners while consolidating our position in the area. Hyperspace survey should be achievable within Forty-Eight hours.
