My name is Ishikawa Masako, daughter of Ishikawa Hayate, an honorable and respected man, and his second wife, Izumi.

My family was wealthy and powerful, and I grew up in the luxury that my father's position granted us. He tried to provide us everything we desired. He succeeded in that. His successor and pride was Ishikawa Shin, my older brother and son of his first wife. I would secretly sneak in and watch my father teach Shin the Bushido or I would spend hours watching father and Shin practise their swordplay from a window, until mother dragged me away. She said those things were not for women of our class. At that time I always agreed with her. I was always the obedient daughter. But still... I could not help myself but observing them. I memorised everything. Every move, every word. They are written in my mind like it is on paper. Father's teachings live on in me. Because they are dead and I am not. And I am eternal.
