Returning home

After a few weeks I was discharged, back into the care of my father. I was still weak and needed help with alot of things. Father barely spoke to me and the rare times he did speak to me, his words were shrouded in apathy. I felt like he blamed me for the death of his beloved son. The son who was his heir.

The week after that, a message came from Honshu. The invitation to meet my future husband was revoked. The explanation given was that father's business partner was unsure about our matchmaking.
I knew what that message meant. It means that they now view me as damaged goods and are no longer interested.
Father distanced himself even more from me. He probably thought I brought dishonor to his name.

I did everything I could to make him proud of me again, but I never succeeded. Eventually I turned away from him myself. I began to train myself in earnest.

I will become someone who is worthy of love. And if no one will give it to me, I will take it by force.

Being ignored has its own boons. I no longer had to hide my activities like I had to before. They simply did not notice when I trained myself in the arts of war in a secluded area. And if they did, they simply did not care.
