Applicant Description
Biography: I was born to a working-class family on the planet of Marne, in the Champagne system. I had few diversions growing up save for traipsing around junkyards and old mines with my friends. My father instilled a sense of duty and loyalty to the Roi from a young age, and I always saw service with the Navy or Army to be my path in life. After we fled the Conseilard invasion, we settled on Amiens where my mother and father found factory work. I succeeded in school - well enough, at least - and I was accepted to the Ecole Navale Royale d'Amiens. As my records will show, and I am not proud to admit, I received harsh penalties and was nearly expelled for fighting two higher born cadets senior to me. I was saved from expulsion only on account of the war with our own traitors and the coming invasion of Sirius. I currently serve as the executive officer aboard the destroyer Volta, where my performance evaluations and testimony from my commanding officer will show that I have served diligently and expertly.
Motivations: It is the duty of every one of us Gaulois to sacrifice for our nation's cause. We thrive under the Roi's care, and I am eagerly his weapon.
Questionnaire
On a scale to ten, how would you rate your piloting ability?: 6.5
What are your skills?: Ship-handling, logistics, personnel management, ship identification, weapons system knowledge and expertise, and language. I speak French, English, and some Korean, a Kusari minority language.
Describe the Kingdom's primary enemies:
Our regular and irregular foes are numerous. I shall try to categorize them broadly. Regulars
Republic of Liberty - A vast, prosperous, and expansionist democratic state whose fleet relies on fast, powerful striking elements supported by heavy starfighters and bombers with attendant heavy carriers. Toe-to-toe, their fleets cannot sustain against our own, but their mobility and flexibility makes them a dynamic threat.
Kingdom of Bretonia - Although ailing, the Bretonians still have significant resources to combat us with as they are backed against the wall. The perfidious Bretonians have a multi-purpose fleet with agile and hard-hitting capital ships. Increasingly, they are being equipped with ships of Libertonian origin, and their new heavy carrier which recon flights have observed in varying stages of construction at Southampton appears to be heavily influenced by the Liberty fleet carrier.
The Council - Illegitimate and traitorous as they are, we cannot ignore the fact that they are a self-styled state with a metropole, numerous distant bases, and a large fleet. It is difficult to tell whether or not an outright major fleet action would be more effective than a gradual propaganda campaign to make them see the light.
Irregulars
Crayter Republic - Although they style themselves as a minor house, they are scattered into the Taus with a number of bases and no metropole, supporting a vast fleet of light ships and starfighters with precious few large capital ships. With enough focus and resources, we should be able to displace them from a relevant position in this war in short order.
Nación Maltesa - The "Outcasts" are long-lived chronic drug addicts whose firepower-heavy pirate fleet has arms all over Sirius. It is critical that they are stopped dead in their tracks before they can establish a foothold in Gallia. A comprehensive police response should be the first line of defense against these irregular, profit-driven foes. Unfortunately, our police may not be up to the task.
The Maquis - Council radicals. They fight like most pirate factions, using terror and treachery from their hidden bases to strike at vulnerable targets.
The Brigands - Bandits. If only the police were more decisive.
While on patrol, you encounter a small wing of Council fighters. They spot you, and begin threatening your life unless you disable your craft and surrender to their cause. You are outgunned and the nearest friendly patrol that would bring the tide to your favour is ten minutes away from you. What will you do?:
Killing me, if they can manage it, is a lesser victory than capturing me. I will show them no quarter.
During one of your flights, you encounter an escape pod or a malfunctioning ship. The person inside is speaking in Sirian tongue and is asking for immediate help. If you wait any longer, the pilot will perish horribly. What will you do?:
I would tractor in the pod and leave it at the nearest base for processing. We have rules and regulations for a reason.
What is your S.K.Y.P.E. ID?: supcommmonroee
Will you always remain rational and calm, follow orders, even if the situation could not be worse?: The situation is always made worse when you are panicked and disobedient. Of course.
