here is the prologue:

June 24th, 810 A.S (After Settlement), Evora Shipyards
Thomas Richardson gazed upon the Praefect Cruiser sitting in the dock. The cruiser, the Vaettir was slated to be a deep-space reconnaissance vessel for the Order. Thomas, a Colonel, had been with the Order ever since the nomad war (799-801 A.S). He was a native of planet Los Angeles in the California system. He had gone to university at West Point Military Academy, and received bachelors in Engineering. He later went on to complete a doctorate in Materials Engineering.

Shes almost complete.....just a few more weeks and we will be on that recon mission in Iota he thought.

The ship and her crew consisted of some of the best scientists and engineers had to offer. The Vaettir was specifically designed with reconnaissance in mind. Her sensor array was state of the art, better than any seen before. Her shields were also state of the art. She also contained several research and containment labs. The primary directorate for their mission was this: Obtain Nomad genetic samples, Technology, and if possible, a nomad fighter.....intact. In two more weeks the Vaettir would set out on her maiden voyage, a deep recon mission to Omicron Iota, the sight of a purported Nomad base. Their job was to investigate the system and its surrounding space.

A member of Thomas's staff walked in. The staff member spoke: Sir we have good news, the ship will be completed ahead of schedule.

Thomas was shocked how in hell could it have been completed so soon??, eh, at least we will get on this mission sooner...the sooner the better.... he thought. That is good, when will she be ready? he replied.

Tomorrow Sir, shall I ready the crew? the aide replied.

Yes, prepare them, and be sure to bring along a team of marines.....you never know what we will run into, that is all Thomas replied.

Yes Sir the aide walked out.

Well, ill see yaw tomorrow... he thought while looking at his ship. He walked out of the observation dome.

June 25th, 810 A.S, Onboard the Vaettir
Vaettir, this is Ever control, best of luck on your mission, remember your job is to gather information on the area, do not engage any nomads you run into unless necessary.

Roger that control, keep a dock open for us, Richardson out. Thomas turned to the helmsman. Lay in a course for Omicron Iota he said.

Aye sir, course laid in the helmsman replied.
Good Thomas lay back in his chair, now the fun begins; dont know what we will find though.....The ship disappeared into the Minor jump hole.

June 30th, 810 A.S, Omicron Iota System
Thomas woke up with a start, a voice on the intercom chimed in Sir we've arrived.

Thomas hit the respond button Understood, I am on my way to the bridge. He walked onto the bridge and took his seat. Anything on scanners? he looked at the sensor officer.

None yet....wait, I am picking up a planet, recommend we investigate. replied the officer.

Agreed, helm, take us to within 20 kilometres. Thomas replied.

Roger that the helmsmen replied. We have arrived.

Sensors, I want a full scan on that planet, communications, contact Toledo, tell them we've found the planet.

Scanning, sir scanners are having difficulty penetrating the atmosphere. replied the sensor officer.

Send down a probe, have it collect samples of the atmosphere and possibly get some photos of the surface. Thomas replied.

Launching probe, it will take a few moments for us to receive telemetry. Receiving telemetry, patching video through to main monitor replied the officer.

What is it? Thomas asked. It appears to be an arctic like landscape, I am reading high amounts of oxygen in the atmosphere, and there appears to be nothing, only icewait, here we go, see that? The officer pointed to a small, barely visible structure in the distance. It appears to be an airlock of sorts.

What would the nomads need with an airlock? Never mind, bring the probe back Thomas replied.

Roger that sir, probe is on its way back the officer replied.

Communications open a channel to Toledo command Thomas responded.

Roger that, channel open. replied the communications officer.

Command, this is Colonel Thomas Richardson, reporting from Omicron Iota, we have found the location of that supposed' nomad world. We have surface footage, and atmospheric samples.

Good work Colonel, mind sending the footage our way? command replied.

Will do Prepare to upload.

Aye sir Upload complete, sending data, along with our ship logs. replied the comm. officer.

Receive it all command? replied the colonel.

Yes, except the video footage seems to have been corrupted. How in hell?? Thomas thought.

Sir, we have an unknown vessel on scanners..closing fast, 30km, 20km. the sensor officer replied, sounding quite alarmed.

Command we are going to have to cut this short, we have a hostile on scanners, wait what in the screen faded to snow. That was the last time Toledo ever heard from the Vaettir.

June 30th, 810 A.S Order High Command, Planet Toledo
The monitor faded to snow.

Sir weve lost contact with the Vaettir! a voice sounded.

Casper Orillion gazed intently at the blank screen. How in hell could this have happened?.....could the Nomads have a new weapon?....he thought.

Try to reconnect Orillion responded intently.

Cant sir, it appears as though the ship just isnt there, we are not detecting her on long range scanners at all. Its as if she just vanished. Replied the voice.

Frakmark her and her crew as MIA presumed dead then and notify their families, that they will all be receiving the DSC Orillion replied.

Aye Sir. Replied the ensign.

Ive got a bad feeling about this...something tells me we will be hearing from her again...he thought
