Main problem with transports is traders not hiring escorts any more. Armed and armored transports should be expensive, almost like other warships and reserved for military factions, for heavily escorted supplying via enemy territory.
Some of you might remember one happier Disco with Hire-Escort-Now chat. Rather than arming transports, I'd suggest:
1. Return escorts professionals back to game and don't be sad to CALL THEM AND PAY THEM. It's about making pixel money instead of new friends - on a damn RP server. Alone fly-by-night power-trading kills RP and must be our last option.
2. Make sure that meta-gaming escort-chat would be highly punishable.
In case I'm wrong, admins might make escort based event and check it all out.
