Basically that. The richest corporation in Sirius (Interspace Commerce) made a hefty investment into the APM. Now one of the Big Three, Universal Shipping, signed a major contract to haul all materials that are so hard to come by in the Edge Worlds in very low cost to the Core.
While the Core nowadays has consistent lore and several money sources to justify most of their doings, it wasn't always the case. During the initial FP11 crisis days, the faction was claiming territories and assets which they were just ridiculous. But now is 2018 and the faction has matured a lot. There are still non-vanilla player factions which have zero justification to be that large so I think @Corile's valid points are far more suitable for those feedback pages.
That being said, I believe that for every positive development there is a side-effect too. In this case, the very strong dependency on Libertonian capital and bankrolling should be reflected on their RP and overall diplomacy should be closer to Liberty than any other House. I would like to see that being fleshed out, good roleplay is not just showing your strong side, but your weak one too.
