Agent Mindcrime reporting in. I took a scouting trip out to one of the Gallic border worlds -- the neighbouring Provence system -- this afternoon. To my delight, there was a freeport there dubbed Monte Carlo that accepted my ship for refueling without hesitation. I picked up some open market Gallic technology while there and have returned to Melbourne with it. I have already managed to mount one open market Gallic interceptor weapon, which appears to be a high refire EMP cannon. It seems to be drawing power abnormally well for what is absolutely a piece of foreign technology. The Gallic name for it is "Petit Carbine", which appears to translate to "miracle of directed energy munitions engineering". I have even managed to integrate it onto the same prototype framework as those odd tachyon cannons a Zoner offloaded onto us at Freeport 10.
Speaking of those tachyon cannons, they're holding up also unusually well on my Scimitar. I tried hooking one up to a production model Raven and the reactor output was cut by a quarter to compensate for irregular power spikes. I will need more time to reverse engineer those weapons, though from initial inspection they seem fairly similar to Maltese technology. The Wyrm, specifically, appears to be the basis for the Scythe tachyon cannon, and the Kraken the basis for the Sickle. I have not yet attempted to mount one of the Sickles on a Raven but I suspect there will be a similar issue.
Our production model fighters are not properly equipped to handle Maltese weapons technology, unfortunately. Due to our current situation between them and the Crayterians I will not attempt to mate Maltese weapons to our fighters, but I will continue working on these Edge Worlds weapons. They seem like a potential avenue for technology that we are both already fairly familiar with, due to their apparent Maltese origin, as well as something that is fairly locally available. That Zoner weapons dealer on Freeport 10 seems to have more where these ones came from.
