Steiner's words were just overcautious, maybe he was in shock as well. He was a doctor, not a nurse; but didn't those two sort of go together? Whatever. All that mattered was getting out of the facility and onto her personal shuttle without being tailed - no pressure. The two exited carrying what might've well been Bernard's lifeless body, all of the guards were on foot patrol around the interior cell block of the large prison, meaning they'd likely run into fewer.
To their surprise, none of the guards gave them any trouble. It seemed word got around with real haste. As the two approached the checkpoint leading out of the cell block section of the prison to the elevator. The two were stopped by the sound of a guard sitting behind the desk.
Enter the connector for a checkout scan, does that one need hospital transportation?
No, just a stretcher.
Quite some health insurance, but that was the reality of being on death row. Weather or not you survived to be executed was entirely chance, only in Gallia. The scan commenced, as it did so Alice took out her ID and placed it through a small opening in the glass and onto the desk in the box office. The guard checked the ID, his eyes widened for a second as he checked the ID. He exhaled, reached out and placed the ID back outside the small opening where Alice snatched it back as if on que.
Mademoiselle Marie, merci for your cooperation. Your transportation awaits on the landing pad above as you arranged. The guards will exit the elevator with a stretcher.
Alice didn't pay any mind to the manners given, she began to pull Steiner and Bernard towards the exit of the connector. The room in front of them was small, but very very bright. The view of the city beneath them through the glass windows was quite a sight to take in, it would be even more so when they reached the roof.
As the two zoned out the elevator doors opened, inside were two guards with a stretcher between them. They rushed out and assisted in lying Bernard down. Alice pulled Steiner into the elevator before it began to ascend up to the roof.
I'll be keeping the stretcher. The guards didn't seem to mind, nor pay any attention really.
The elevator came to a sudden stop after ascending for a few seconds, the facility was enormous. The city beneath them stretched for miles, interrupted in some areas by lakes. Seeing the city from so high up would totally rule out the thought of anything malicious occurring. Every day seemed spectacular on New Paris, but the contents beyond it's aesthetics were all but vile. None of it really mattered to Alice, she grew up in the dream setting, it didn't do her much interest after enlisting.
Lynxes roaring throughout the sky were only matched by the sound of the winds tugging at them at such a high altitude. The pair walked straight ahead to the only shuttle on the landing pad, simple enough, and they had a bonus guest.
You're going to have to provide what care you can for him while I take us back to my estate. I'll explain more once we're there.
