What you do, is you set up a mirror install in a second folder, and then you dig them out, put them in a notepad file, or some other text editor, and change them there. Then you give them to a dev to put back into the official game for next patch update. (which is going around the merges for the next patch, and doesn't work for a variety of file compatibility reasons, which is why I'm doing a bit of asking before doing)
