Firstly, calm down and get your spelling right, please. ;)
Secondly... I wouldn't have done that if it was not neccessary.
After he laughed at me and said goodbye...
after he tried to insult me for the second time.
//I don't take such little things as insults too personally, but Rum Rogers might.
If you don't want a pirate after you, don't give him a reason in the first place...
My intention was to stop him, exchange a few sentences... with a goal to get something from it, obviously. But I never know how a situation like that develops and that's what makes it interesting for me.
You weren't there, that excuses you. Rum Rogers didn't just "blow up a new guy in a starflier", onca, although you may feel differently.
It's funny. When such folks engage cruise or just get close to a tradelane, they feel like having all the power in the world and usually underestimate the funky Rogers and try to throw a gauntlet in his face. He often proves them wrong.
//I almost never blow traders up unless I give them quite a few second chances. Yeah, it's silly, I lose credits that way, they make fun of me but what? Bugger it, at least they achieve something they can be happy about, too.
To back up my claims ...
//... really, it might be kind of out of Roger's roleplay style to let somebody like that spit his rum back out.
Edit:
As I think about it, I might have just let myself let him go completely so that he wouldn't have to face a pirate. I might have also let myself get killed shouting "oh, they caught me!". I might have also just burned myself in the atmosphere. But in my opinion it really is an old pirate tradition to run away. Survival is one of the most important things for a pirate and After That goes the need to rob, steal, threaten, and (oh yes) drink rum.
I beg to differ in this from a portion of traders who rather get themselves killed than drop a part of their cargo.
// The only exception I found legitimate today, actually pretty good - was a Kishiro Tech trader moving Engine Components through Leeds. He didn't want to be dishonored. But I'm not sure if I actually made that up For Him just because I messed up and let him drop and destroy his cargo when I gave him his fourth last chance because he had 1% hull strength left. So yeah, do a kamikaze, but be licensed in Kusari space. :D
