He stood up, taking a few steps forward and eliminating the gap between them, using both his hands to take hold of her own. He held them up just enough that she could see the gesture out of the corner of her eyes as he looked rather deeply into hers. "You're important to me, I want to know. I'm not upset that you didn't tell me about him, why would you have? You don't even know me, and I don't know you. But I want us to change that."

He had to reinforce the fact that she was safe in being honest with him, letting his thumbs slip over her knuckles, massaging them. It was affection that came naturally and not something he had to tell himself to do. "I trust you, I want you to trust me."

He was never one for long complicated words, he preferred to be to-the-point and to say what was on his mind. And as of right now, he needed to know. The fact that she didn't feel like telling him wasn't a good sign, but being close to her again made the knot in his gut fade. He couldn't be angry, not when she was looking at him like that.
