Begining of the end

DarkStar finaly stopped smiling when 6 of his men died. Someone was taking out his brothers and sisters, and that would not do.
"Where is the location of these pests?"
"The shots came from the building to the west, Lord."
"Snipers?"
"Yes Lord. Your orders?"
"Since they have decided to incurr our wrath, they will pay the price. Have Barns search the area."
"Barns sir? But dosn't he have..." The Phantom stopped, and finaly realised what his master had planned. "Yes sir." Under his helm, a slow smile spread over his face.

One of the A-MAG snipers was once more looking for targets. More Phantoms had died, and so had more AW and Kusari soldiers. Then he spied one more Phantom in one of the windows.
"Heh... Gonna get 7 Phantom heads now... Wait a sec..." The Phantom had some kind of shoulder mounted gun. It was rather large and looked like a rocket launcher. And for some reason, the Phantom was looking directly at him.
"What the he..." The A-Mag soldier never got a chance to finish as the Gauss round ripped out at close to the speed of light. The A-MAG soldiers torso simply vanished in this cloud of blood and liquified body parts. A rather large hole was punched through the whole building, and even into the one beyond. Barns looked through the hastily mounted auto-scope on his rifle. "Never tick off the man with a bigger gun."

A second round missed the second sniper by inches, but the sonic boom and shockwave that followed blew out his shields and spun the man like a top before he crashed down, unconsious. His gun was twisted by the same effects of the round untill it resembled a very expensive club, and just about as useful as one too.

Random Gauss shots blew apart cover, vehicals, buildings, and people.

Barns emptied the Gauss clip, and then retreated into the building. The rest of the Phantoms moved onto the next building, but the AW had caught onto this strategy. They tried to hit them mid-air, but it was hard. No real confirmed hits, and nobody fell out of the air. Too fast and too thick armor. Not for lack of trying, mind you. They were pissed off that the Phantoms had used a civvie for a bomb, and they almost blew up the commander to boot.

The air assets deployed by both the Kusari Navel Forces and the AW were also having a hard time. Those Heavy Assault Armor units, the homing rockets, and the thrice be-d*mned Gauss gun were putting a very heavy toll on future numbers. But the Phantoms had problems as well. Ammunition. 80. cal runs out fast, rockets get used, and the Gauss cannon was starting to become more miserly with his shots. So, the plan DarkStar had was starting to get a little simpler.

The Phantoms jumped into the next building. But instead of setting up there, they kept going. Through that one, on to the next. More then that, they were starting to curve...
