Back in my day, young-uns learned what all those heiroglyphs meant one at a time by interacting with other people.

This is Discovery Freelancer. It's more fun to Discover^TM other people's things in-game rather than to have it all handed to you, from my experience.

Side note: Seriously, get a Skype/Discord, and hop on this server. There are players who are more than willing to help you in real time.

EDIT: Your proposal would also functionally kill piracy because we'd all have to self-identify as pirates in such a jarring way that the newbiest of newbies would say "Oh no, pirates", and no trader with half an eye on the playerlist will go near a system with a pirate in it. I, for one, prefer a relative veil of anonymity in the playerlist so the traders don't immediately log their shiny caps and pile in on me. No, really, ask LH~ about it. They spend most of their time in untagged ships specifically to avoid the situation I just mentioned.
