My opinion on why the game has constantly been losing players

Reasons why playerbase is decreasing over the time are much more complex and thinking that simple reverse of mod to .85 version would magically solve problems this game and community have, and playerbase would suddenly start growing in significant numbers, is quite naive in my opinion. Every time I see such sentiment, it reminds me old people I see in the city bus complaining about stuff and claiming "things were much better when we were young, everything sucks these days".

Also, what then? We would be playing .85 forever? That would hardly be interesting in long-term. Especially when one of the most loud complaints people had back in .85 times was that mod is stagnating (because waiting for .86 was really long) and no longer interesting due to no development so players were leaving "because there is nothing new to do".

But what if that was really better, not just "cus the grass was greener and vodka tastier"?
The more times passes by, the more people lean towards classics, because it provided more action and satisfaction in some numerous ways, as we can judge from today's perspective.
Well, RP is endless, so yeah, why not, even without tamagochi PoBs there's lots of things to do, everything's limited by your imagination.
Even with people complaining, it was 255/255 almost every evening.

Those were good times, but will not return. Never ever and it´s very naive to think otherwise (after all, how many similarly old games you know whose playerbase is steady for years or even growing in numbers)? Maybe some people would return, but at the same time some others would leave because they are attracted mostly by new era stuff like POBs/cloaks/jump drives and such, or because they would be too dissapointed by their RP effort being thrown out of the window (because in roleplay you could hardly justify how it happened that whole universe returned in time, wars which ended years ago are suddenly raging again while those which were raging do not exist, some places and even whole house do not exist and so on). Basically all what players created in last several years would become worthless and that´s unacceptable price on the RP server, because it would be really demotivating for players, especially those who build their characters´ story for long time.

So in my opinion this would not improve the player count much, if even in any way, actually I would be afraid that in the end it would make things even worse. Especially if the "plan" would be to keep same version of the mod forever. I really do not think this is the way how to help it to survive or attract new players.
