Your proposal just adds unnecessary characters to tags, as well as sucking the soul, uniqueness and roleplay out of them. Yes, there are certainly some tags that could be clearer, but the majority of tags are fine. Rule of thumb is that when in doubt of something, you should just ask. Sling the ship a PM if you don't know who they are. Outside of the factions added by the Discovery Mod itself, the only circumstance where I can see newbies struggling really hard to identify tags at the beginning is not playing vanilla, which I didn't, but even then it was really easy for me to familiarize myself with faction tags like [LN] and =LSF=.

I think you're seriously overexaggerating the bad impact of factions using the current tags, as in many cases they're actually used to draw activity.

I don't have an answer for this because Ageira is currently using it's complete name in the ID, so Ageira is not part of the problem. You picked up a Faction as example that is not contested to the issue at hand.
