The Brotherhood Recruitment Application:

Name: Kain Daemos Liddick

Age: 22

Skills: I am experienced in the management and piloting of capital-class vessels ranging from light cruisers onto heavy battleships. I am an adept leader and can show a great deal of skill in commanding both small squadrons and large fleets, ranging from a rag-tag group of fighters to large multi-vessel engagements including dozens of capital vessels. Outside of my command expertise, I have degrees in Psychology and Bio-mechanical Engineering (bio-implants and the like). In land-based combat, what I lack in grace I certainly make up for in small-arms combat. I train regularly in the use of a pistol, but have only mediocre skill with a rifle and absolutely none with a blade.

Reason for choosing TBH: In truth... redemption. My family comes from a long line of military veterans, most serving in the Liberty Navy and other combat branches. Though it is through a particular experience, that I come to the Corsairs to offer them my aid. One does not choose his bloodline, he must simply accept it. But that blood does not stop a person from choosing their future... That is why I am here.

Biography: Back when I was just a young boy, training in the military academy my father had put me in, I remember one time I had shoreway leave for a few days and decided to spend them with my father. My father, being admiral of his own vessel, allowed me aboard to visit him. While on-board, he received a call from headquarters to investigate a few unknown ship signatures in New London. My father, annoyed at why the Bretonia Police couldn't check into it themselves, grudgingly accepted and we flew off to find the unknown ships. As we neared the navpoint set as their last known location, we spotted several ship signatures, a few fighters in standard formation, protecting two personnel carriers. My father, recognizing the heat signatures of the vessels as common pirate modified thrusters, moved his fleet in for a closer look, notifying them to be ready for an engagement. As we neared the ships, I watched the radar platform on the bridge of the battleship closely; The fighters broke their formation and headed straight for us! To be honest, I was excited, being a small boy then. This was the first sight I had of a real battle. They managed to fire off a few torpedoes, damaging my father's battleship slightly, but barely scratched the behemoth of a vessel before they were all shot down. "Fools.." I thought, a motley crew of fighters engaging capital ships, it was suicide. I thought the engagement was over, the personnel transports were freed from the pirate raiders, and we could be off, having saved the hapless civilians. As I turned around, preparing to head to my quarters, I heard a female voice, clearly coming from our hailing screen. I turned, to see a woman in tears, holding a little child in her arms. She pleaded to my father to allow them to reach their destination, a Gaian outpost not far off... My father canceled the transmission before she could finish and ordered his men to fire on the transports, to leave none alive. That childhood experience would haunt me for years to come, I was only 10 years old... training early to becoming a shining example for my family, as a Liberty Navy officer.

Though my father never found out why, I grew distant from him; I could never forgive him for the brutality he showed the the helpless women and children aboard those transports. My anger towards my father consumed me, I used it in my training, excelled far beyond my expectations, and graduated from the academy at the young age of 17, four years earlier than the rest of the cadets. My time at the Liberty academy was very much secluded, as I witnessed the same brutal carelessness of life taught all throughout the academies. I spoke little to my family and in the last few months of my schooling, none at all. I returned home to find only my two sisters at home. At first, I saw nothing unusual, until I saw a table adorned with pictures of my father, and a tri-folded flag stood upright behind the pictures. I learned from my sisters that our father was killed by a Liberty Rogue thug while he was on his way back to base. Mother, I was told died of a sudden outbreak of malignant cancer that soon consumed her body and mind entirely, unto her death.

Having no family left, and my sisters having no desire to marry.. all three of us fled to space, where we would live an essentially nomadic lifestyle, living mostly in the vessels I was able to procure via my Liberty Navy clearance, and setting up semi-permanent households on various planets, but constantly moving. As the space we left behind became more and more crowded, we simply pushed ourselves a little bit further.

It's been nearly six years since then... It was only yesterday that I met a corsair woman, whose name I shall keep respectfully secret. She told me a disturbing story, of a Liberty man who mercilessly slaughtered a band of Corsair and Gaian refugees attempting to fly unnoticed into New London. It wrenched my heart to be unable to explain to her that it was my father that had done so. And now, as I sit writing this into the terminal in front of me, I hope that someday my apologies to all of the Corsair people will be accepted, as my only pledge lies with their people. While not of the same blood, accepted or not, I will avenge the Brotherhood against the tyranny my ancestors have wrought.
