I was reading all this and I perhaps was reading it after mods did their job therefore, I have no isnight in this but I will give my few words.

You're not doing "more interesting things", you're actually doing nothing.
I agree with this totally. Perhaps, this is what new generations here will not understand and will scream about it, but it is true. We old veterans witnessed the changes and we know what happened.
Times pass, and so things change. Are those changes good or not, it depends.
People enjoyed home system raids. People enjoyed the roghness of Discovery. People enjoyed chaos.
The game was based on chaos, by the single player and the game was made as space shooter. The mod was continuation of this space shooter with a dose of role play, following the story.
And people who looked for pure RP, pure conversations, had their thing in that whole chaos. I witnessed some nicest RP interactions back then.
But hey let's talk about role play;
It was always about survival in the chaotic universe called Sirius, with aliens, wanting to take it over from humans, the things called Nomads. The danger of it was present each day.
You know such place could've never been a universe where all of us would gather in front of Manhattan and have some tea and cake and all of sudden there was peace.
But hey that once happened and we had some Nomads that decided to go against their kind because they loved hanging out in front of Manhattan with people, instead of following their role and purpose. That eventually failed of course.
However, the new people that kept arriving had a belief that Discovery should be in fact, a place to go and chat around while having some tea and cake. The mod simply attempted to adapt to this and here we are. Because these people begun being louder and louder about it, demanding it. That is the time when "drama" became a thing on discovery.
Back onto the topic of this... issue that I read.
You know what is one of painful things to do in this time, and in this state I'm which mod currently is? To fly over a home system and do a good old home system raid. Especially if it ain't New York you know?
First off, all the activity is centered in Liberty, because this is where every new player, when he starts playing, begins his journey on the server.
People do not go instantly to forums and read all the information. People look for the game itself, to go around and shoot other people.
There's no more guys like old crew, to go against all odds into a fight even if you know that you don't have a chance.
And it is totally fine to have a tottaly not PVP oriented Outcast or Corsair group as well.
Sadly, us vets, we find ourselves surrounded by this.. new form of Discovery where, simply things are done differently, more kindly. And if they cannot defeat you, they will gank you. If they cannot gank you because they are alone, they will simply ignore you. There's no more joyful fair fights and duels, and saying to each other //gf after a fight. (and the irony is children calling us bittervets, but they are ones either ignoring your "gf" or telling you "gg" or in most miserable situations, spamming you with CD in a gunso duel in Connecticut)
So instead of going mad, and putting yourself in a lame position, and I don't mean anything bad or I don't either want someone to feel disgraced by my words... Simply, like me, create your own surrounding of old influence in a best way you can, where you and guys will enjoy.
This is why, I got Commune still. A piece of joy and good people in it, with old traditions. We have our own thing, we have our RP. We align it with the rest of discovery. If there's some good people to interact with outside of group, we gladly do it (people of Das Wilde, Alex of the Rat Pack, some Outcast Indies and etc)
We tried keeping the fair fights and duels as well, for all the years while discovery was changing. The result? We lost almost every time, and we adapted to it. We decided simply not to offer duels anymore and do what everyone else is doing because, pushing something old outside of our group didn't have sense... We'd be frustrated and some would leave.
But hey here we are 8 years after and we will be here because we have our own piece of environment that we find pleasant. We grew our skin thick and we ignore all the drama and false accusations (etc, Commune full of Russians as I've seen some screenshots from Discovery Discord) Anyway,
Best solutions are PVP events, organised, on a middile grounds. Perhaps we witness some good old times since of this new story line update. I hear some are getting interested once again. I mean I am.
I'm writing on phone and I wrote a lot. I hope my post is well written and not all over places.
This is the game guys. Games were made to be played and to have joy. You're taking things sometimes too much personal.
Regards.
